Hey there it’s Ed from Instant Physio.

I’ve just been asked a question by a patient who’s suffering with back pain and she’s wondering what is the best position to sleep in when you’ve got back pain.

If you’re someone who wakes up and feels really stiff and uncomfortable after a night’s sleep or if you have difficulty getting to sleep due to back pain or if you have difficulty with waking up in the night due to pain then this is going to be perfect for you…

The best position you can sleep in is laid on your side with a pillow in between your legs. The reason why is because it takes away torsion and twisting through the lower back and it keeps the spine and what we call a neutral position.

Sleeping this way you will help you wake up feeling pain free, energised, and ready to start the day. If you have any more questions that you like to ask me then please send me a message or leave me a comment.
